I am doing a guide to a set of readings that many Christians follow which is called The Lectionary. A three year cycle that covers all the key parts of The Bible in manageable chunks, using an Old Testament passage, Psalm, New Testament passage along with a Gospel Text.
I plan to do this in various ways which can read as a whole or people can pick and choose, as they see fit, and what suits the way they learn or will benefit from.
Sunday Summary, is a brief retelling of the passages to act as a reminder of what you've read, or if you find it hard to get access to your Bible.
Monday Meanings, is defining or making it easier to understand what maybe terms not used nowadays, placenames or people which should make passages more easier to understand.
Tuesday Thoughts, are just that, first thoughts bringing the theme connecting the passages or what I got on first reading them myself.
Wednesday Worship and Wisdom, is a hymn and quote\s, connected to the weeks readings.
Thursday Thursday, is an account from church history, or a short biography of someone, or someone's personal story.
Friday Focus, is me taking time to draw out one point, maybe by using an illustration, which I think will help people that week.
Saturday Sundries, are examples of secular art which may connect with the week's reading, alongside something that I enjoyed reading that doesn't connect with the week that I want to share. Like it's the blog's day off from the readings til we start all over again.
Personally I am doing this so I can share something of the Bible with people, but also because I have to follow a set program, I am challenged to address the reading in front of me, not give you my own favourites topics over and over.
I pray this will get you into the Bible for yourself, and discover parts of it you never really considered touching on before.
