Sorry for the sport analogy

I am British and say I'm talking about football with an American. And we are doing quite well but a few minutes in we realise that despite using similar terms, as we are both using words like goals, defence, ball, referee, we were talking about different sports. 

I'm talking about soccer not gridiron, the same confusion can happen with discussions with a LDS as we can use the same terms but mean different things and so will talk past each other. 

So we need to know what each other mean so never be afraid of the question, Can you explain what you mean by that?, or Am I understanding you right ...?
